The shot above is of an unusual church. Fifteen years ago it was my brother-in-law’s dive shop on US 1 in Fort Pierce. Now it’s a rather charismatic church. Tony had a large 8-foot deep pool which he used to teach scuba lessons. Now it’s used as a baptismal pool. Things change.
Those glory days may be gone, but there’s hope on the horizon. The repairs on Amy’s house are nearly 99% finished. This, two years after hurricanes Frances and Jean passed right over, and Wilma and Ivan came the next year to screw up repairs already in progress. To celebrate, we’re grilling filet mignon, ribs, and stone crab claws, washed down with copious amounts of alcohol and Jimmy Buffett. I’m sure the drive home tomorrow is going to be really comfortable.
We also decided to re-christen Amy’s house. Instead of "Bent Nail Cottage", it shall henceforth be known as "Five O’Clock Somewhere."
