Where to Direct the Outrage??

  1. IMO classic example of “seat time” is the half days business in another school district to your west. They ride out the string at the end of the year, essentially doing nothing. I guess that “doing nothing” is a reward of some type for having more time than needed? Or are teachers and students so burned out by that time that trying to do real school is simply not worth it? I don’t know, but it always struck me as strange. i don’t recall those types of days in District 7 when i was growing up. I could be wrong.

  2. We have half days at the end of the semester and the end of the year. The extra afternoon is supposed to be a time when teachers can get things together for end of the semester, but instructional time is often wasted.
